There will be No School Monday, March 2nd for observance of Casmir Pulaski Day. Casimir Pulaski Day is a legal holiday in Illinois. It celebrates the birthday of Pulaski, a Polish-born soldier who made a significant contribution to American independence. Chicago is known for its large population of Polish immigrants who came to the United States during the 19th century.

The South Beloit Lions Club sponsors a youth organization at South Beloit High School called the Leo Club. The Leo Club is a student-led service organization that promotes leadership development and community involvement.

One of the Leo Club’s current service projects is collecting new and gently used pet supplies for a local pet food bank, Kibble Korner. In addition to distributing pet food to families in need, Kibble Korner operates a small retail shop where 100% of the proceeds go directly toward purchasing pet food.

Kibble Korner's mission is to help keep pets in loving homes by assisting individuals who may have experienced a significant life change and need help with food or supply costs. This includes many seniors living on limited incomes.

The Leo Club has placed collection boxes at each school, along with informational flyers. The Club is accepting pet food, new and gently used pet supplies. We hope to share this initiative on your school’s social media later today. If you or your students would like to participate, donations would be greatly appreciated. This time of year tends to bring fewer contributions to the pet food pantry, and the Leo Club hopes to make this an annual pet supply drive.

Thank you for your time and support. The Leo Club is open to all high school students and meets every 2nd and 4th Monday during lunch in the SLC.

Riverview Elementary School is partnering with Nothing Bundt Cakes for a sweet fundraiser! Pick-up is March 5 from 2-4pm. PLEASE make arrangements to pick up your order during this time, as we do not have refrigerator space available to store Bundtlets after pick-up. South Beloit Food Pantry will be Wednesday, March 18th from 4:00PM- 6:00PM at Blackhawk Elementary. Pantry is for ALL families in South Beloit. When school district is closed because of weather conditions the pantry will be closed. SOBO food pantry is completely free and open to the community. Food will be distributed on a first come, first served basis.

The winter season has arrived, and temperatures are dropping quickly. Please make sure your child is dressed appropriately for the weather. Once winter begins, your child will need boots, snow pants, a hat, and mittens or gloves to play outside in the snow. We are outdoors in the morning before school and again during lunch recess and don't forget about the bus ride to and from school!
