1:1 Computing
As part of the 1:1 initiative, South Beloit Community Unit School District provides computer and internet access to every student from Pre-K through 12th grade. Grades Pre-K through 8th grade have classroom sets of Chromebooks while high school students are each assigned and responsible for their own device.
Along with the distribution of Chromebooks to our students, the District is also utilizing a Learning Management System (LMS) called Google Classroom. Google Classroom is an online learning, classroom management, and social networking platform that increases learning opportunities through its communication and collaboration tools, and by providing 24/7 access to curricular and supplemental content. Google Classroom will serve as a virtual extension of the District’s brick and mortar buildings.
Each Chromebook assigned connects to the internet through our Smoothwall filtering device. This filters the student's internet request to be sure that the student is not shown any inappropriate contact. The District also utilizes GoGuardian in the classroom. This allows the teachers to see the students' screens in real time from the teacher's desk.
